1. HVAC check up
Think about having an HVAC professional tune up your system before the temperatures creep way up in the 80s and 90s. It could save you a ton of money in the long run (new systems are NOT cheap!). And you’ll be sure your HVAC is in tiptop shape for the scorching days ahead.
2. Clean and switch
In the summer months, you can switch the direction of your fan blades with a simple switch on the base. This feature allows the blades to push cooler air down. You’ll want to wipe off the top and bottom of the blades before you test it out though. To avoid a face full of dust!
3. Dirty dryer vents cause house fires
Clean out your dryer vent! A lent build up in your dryer vent is a recipe for a potential house fire. Rising summer temperatures, too much lent and heat from the usage can be deadly. The lent basically acts as a match waiting to be lit. Take this easy step to make sure your family and property is not at risk for a dyer related fire.
4. Time to clean the gutters
Warmer months tend to bring lots of rain and storms, which means it’s time to clean out those gutters. Think about adding a wire mesh protector to your gutters. It’s a great way to keep debris from building up and water hanging out on your roof.
5. Replace weather stripping
Stop what you’re doing right now and go check your windows and weather stripping. This is an EASY one! Make sure the sealant and stripping is in good shape and none needs to be replaced. Gaps and rips in the weather stripping can cause cool air to seep out and hot air to sneak in.
